There was much chatter after it was announced that Asou Square, a traditional Saint Lucian New Year’s celebration, would return to its original venue- The Derek Walcott Square, after being held in the Vigie area for the past few years. Although many were skeptical that the event would be a success because of the chosen location, that turned out not to be the case. Hundreds of Saint Lucians came out that day with the hopes of witnessing an exciting event and the majority was pleased with the way things turned out. There were a number of performances by various local artistes including The “Invader”, Ambi, J. Mouse, and Hollywood H.P amongst others. Other forms of entertainment included comedy from a local group, modelling and dance as well as zip lining and a bouncy for the kids. The two day event lasted till the late hours of the night; check out highlights from the show below.
