The theme for RBC Young Leaders this year is “Digital Citizenship- responsibly navigating technology”. This theme is quite fitting for our current society as many times we see students as well as adults misusing and abusing digital technology but are not sure of what they do. This technology was created to help people communicate with each other, to learn differently and to create a greater awareness of the world at large. As a member of young leaders, I’ve learnt that the Internet can cause great harm to others.
People use the Internet in such bad ways; to bully others, to hack into people’s account, to watch pornography, listen to unappealing songs, and also to plagiarize, which is stealing other people’s work to make it their own. I believe that we as digital citizen should make it our duty to fully understand the ways of digital technology and thus begin to make the best use of it for our betterment. This message is especially for young people – Remember, the click of a mouse and the touch of a screen lie at your finger tip, make the right choice!
POSITIVE — USES OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY (The Internet)
- Learning resource
- Communication with family, friends and the wider world

“DON’T — USE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY UNNECESSARYILY AND TO THE DETRIMENT OF INDIVIDUALS, INSTEAD BE POSITIVE AND — USE IT WISELY”.
