Mother’s Day

We’ve got so many blessings in life that sometimes we take them for granted. It’s not that we mean to do it, it’s the fact that since these blessings happen every day we believe it is something owed to us, so there is no need to give thanks and appreciate. But let’s back up for a minute and look, think, analyze if you will just how much we would miss those blessings that we are taking for granted.

I will use the most obvious one and that is for most of us waking up on a morning to a parent or guardian fixing us breakfast or maybe ironing our clothes. For a few of these things don’t go without a thanks or a show of appreciation and thankfulness. For many however, it is a right to wake up to that meal or that chore being done because not an ounce of gratitude is shown.

Now take away those simple amenities or the person who has been a slave to you for so many years and how would you feel?  We must remember to forever show gratitude to the people who offer and make significant changes in our lives. The people who were there long before “bae” arrivedand will continue to be there.

I am sure by now you have an idea of who that person is. That’s right, your mother and Mother’s Day is observed on the second Sunday in May. It is a time to honour mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers for their contribution to family and society. Before anyone gets that thought of, I don’t have a mother, guess what it’s 2015, if you have a dad doing the job of mommy as well, wish him a happy mother’s day tomorrow.

Now if you are like Rae and thought that Mother’s Day is a week away  and you didn’t have an opportunity to get her a gift, then we have a few things you can do to make her feel extra special.

You can write her a nice letter. Not on the computer!  It would be even better if you wrote it. Mention why you love her and everything that she has done for you. Include that you are grateful for having her in your life, and make her feel like she is the luckiest mother in the world. Be specific of things that you’re thankful for.

Give her a Queen-like treatment. Do just about everything and anything that she wants, without making her to tell you twice or more times. Do it the moment she tells you to with no complaints and a smile on your face.

And finally, why not spend your entire day with her. Go shopping or watch a movie, or simply stay at home and prepare a delicious meal for her or play some indoor games. This will surely make her happy.

Have a great weekend ya’ll and don’t forget to show your mom some extra love!

Take care and God bless,
