Carnival Queen 2015 Yvana David

The suspense that built up during the weeks leading up to the event finally died down, when 20-year-old Yvana David, Miss Nagico Insurance, was crowned Carnival Queen 2015.

Francillia Austin, Miss Digicel, Kadijha Mason, Miss Boka Group, Laura Bruce,Miss Saint Lucia Tourist Board, Bebiana Mangal, Miss Columbus Business Solutions, Ayana Alexander, Miss Super J, Anya Edwin, Miss Piton,and Denise Nelson,Miss Flow, were the seven beauties that went up against Yvana that night.

The girls, some of whom are well-known in pageantry circles, arguably, made the show one of the most talked about shows in years.

The National Cultural Centre was an almost unbelievable sight that night. The building was filled to capacity and many were left standing.

The night was filled with incessant applause and cheers as the girls were all breathtaking in the various segments: opening number, costume, swimwear, talent, evening wear and interview.

The colourful costumes, a fusion of colours, elegant sequined dresses, skin-hugging swimsuits on perfectly toned bodies, and gripping drama pieces, made the show indelible; a screen projector displayed the various activities the contestants had done during the weeks leading up to the crowning night.

Some stood out more than others, however, Yvana’s consistency and effortless, unique, performances could not go unnoticed; it was apparent that she would take one of the top spots that night.

Her talent piece, a moving rendition aimed at the manner in which victims of abuse are being treated, solidified that.

Screams of joy could be heard when Yvana was announced as the winner and her numerous supporters rushed to the front of the stage to express their delight.

Prior to Yvana being crowned, hosts Shayne Ross and Candy Nicholas announced that for the first time ever, each contestant had adopted a local charity organization.

Yvana, who received a four year scholarship to study in Mexico by the Mexican government, overwhelmed, stated that the journey was a phenomenal one.
