It’s a tradition that has long marked the culmination of the Easter celebrations. The XS Energy sponsored Kite Festival this year partnered with K.F.C’s Aqua Mélé to bring an afternoon of family fun and excitement at the Pigeon Point Beach. The colourful birds fluttered through the clear blue sky much to the delight of the youthful spectators who had also made their way to the beach to celebrate the start of a much needed vacation from school.
With the ever energetic host Mr. Pringles keeping kite flyers and spectators entertained with his witty words of encouragement and a few giveaways, the afternoon’s proceedings were flawless with the exception of a “flyaway” kite that had patrons running for cover.
The incident free activity, climaxed with an awards ceremony. Flyers were rewarded in the following categories, Best Overall, Most Patriotic – Junior and Senior, Scariest – Adult, Smallest and Largest Flying Kite, Best Use of Colour – Junior and Senior, Most Creative/Innovative – Junior and Senior, Highest Flying, Flying Aces and Top Team.
