On July 31 Baron Foods presented the second annual International Pork Festival at the Pigeon Island National Landmark. After weeks of promotion as the place to take the family to lunch, many kitchens on that Sunday were left empty and folks were encouraged to direct any hungry family member to the Pigeon Island National Park for some good old Sunday cooking.
Families were once again given the opportunity to experience a world of delicious pork (barbeque pork, stew pork, roast pork, sweet and sour pork, black pudding and more) from pork masters around the island.
This year the family event not only aimed to promote different pork dishes or other types of meats, it also gave children a chance to meet their favourite cartoon character and special guest, Pepper Pig. In addition they also participated in traditional games such as Pin the Tail on the Pig and bouncing castles.
The night’s entertainment featured the likes of Shemmy J, Mysterio and three time Groovy monarch Arthur alongside the Evalucian Band, before the deejays from the Blazin fraternity treated patrons to a festival of music and entertainment to close off Pork Fest 2016.
