Last week Sunday we all tuned in to the Miss Universe competition. Who can resist the glitz, charm and glamour? The competition is a ‘must see’ event around the globe and this year’s competition had the most participants ever—92 dazzling beauties graced the stage but it was South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters who walked away with the Miss Universe title.
The Caribbean was well-represented: islands like Saint Lucia, Barbados, Trinidad, Haiti and Jamaica all participated, but at the end, it was Jamaica who made the top 16 and later, the top 3; still a victory for the Caribbean.
Jamaica’s Davina Bennett wowed the crowd with her stunning appearance and grace—the ‘fro was in a league of its own. At the end, the beauty was declared second runner up and many were disappointed as they felt she deserved a better placement.
Still, the Jamaican beauty and Caribbean sweetheart won the hearts of many, gaining a number of new fans in the process and walked away with her natural crown: her stunning afro.
