Standing out, to be much better than other similar things or people. I must admit that until I visited the Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, the desire to google the meaning hardly appealed to me. All that changed this past Thursday.
The Young Leaders of the Sir Ira Simmons Secondary sounded off the project with a march on the school’s court on Thursday afternoon. The activity, conceptualized to send a strong message to students around the island focused on building self-esteem as well as bullying, teenage pregnancy and other ills plaguing their young society.
The students, from forms one to four, with placards in hand and a marching band for musical support paraded, chanted and encouraged their fellow students to Stand Out and not follow the cliques and crowd.
