A big congratulations to all of our successful readers

Come Monday morning many of our young readers will be heading into a brand new environment. Some secondary school and others College. Before I go any further let me say a big congratulations to all of our successful readers and for those who weren’t successful, well, we had our Slouch last weekend. Again let me remind you it is not the end of the world and you still have enough time to right that wrong.

Those of you who will be entering a new school come Monday, go there with your heads held high and goals written down. The last thing you would want to happen is after your tenure at your new school, your grades are a disappointment to you and your family. Set realistic expectations but don’t bombard yourself with all work. Ensure that you have time to socialize and make friends. Everyone needs a little break once in a while.

One of the things I believe is often forgotten when a student enters a new school is the awkward feeling of being a loner that comes with the new walls. If this has happened to you before then you are painfully aware of how scary that can be. Luckily, we have a fool proof plan that should help you wade through that rough water. Making friends at a new school is a lot easier than many people think. Just be yourself (polite and respectful) and you will see how quickly you can make a friend.

Everyone wants to be an A-lister, but take it from an A-lister, it is not all that important, especially when those class projects start piling up. Focus the need for popularity into topping all exams and projects and I am sure the A crowd will find you.

Undesirables and bad elements are everywhere and school is certainly not immune to them. You’re old enough to know who you should associate with and who you should steer clear from.  We won’t preach it to you because we know that you know who to stay aware from. Anyone that will have you distracted from achieving greatness should be marked off your list of friends.

School is hard work as it should be but it is also fun. So enjoy your years at your new school. Work hard, pray hard and play hard! Make us Proud.

Take care yall and have a great weekend.
