On Saturday August 25, the Sandals Halcyon Ballroom was converted into part showroom, part dancefloor. It was a classy-themed event in keeping with the mission of Statesman758, which sought to combine bikes and partying in a revolutionary manner. Incredible performances from popular local artistes and DJ’s, along with a mini fashion showcase cemented ‘Heels and Bikes’ as the Premier Black and Purple event on island.
Attendees were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne outside the ballroom’s main entrance and upon entry to the ballroom, witnessed a breath-taking setup involving a number of motorbikes strategically placed in various locations. White and purple robes secured the main area at the stage front, which housed the largest concentration of bikes in the room. Crisscrossing paths of LED lights on the floor illuminated the room and highlighted all the cool designs of the bikes.
On the floor was the very capable DJ Pow setting the mood with all the greatest hits from Saint Lucia and around the world as attendees walked in. To the back was a well-stocked bar with a competent group of bartenders serving patrons at lightning pace.In hopes to increase interaction between partiers and the performers, a decision was made to shift from the stage to the floor; it was a decision which paid off greatly by the end of the show. CompTECHS added to the excitement before the start of the show with our Virtual Reality offering. Attendees were fitted with the Samsung Gear VR Headset and witnessed the thrilling run of a professional Biker while they sat on one of the bikes parked in the ballroom. This collaboration comes as CompTECHS and Statesman758 work to pioneer creative ways of integrating Tech at events.
Local Saxophonist Isman Lovence got the engine started with a powerful rendition of ‘Ah Feeling’ by Lead Pipe and Sadiss. This was quickly followed by a brief address by Managing Director Sheldon Germaine. After, a number of models took to the floor to showcase a number of clothing items featured in the Purple Catalogue.
Statesman758 continues to etch its mark on the local event scene, highlighting the need for events with a difference. It is a lifestyle brand that focuses on serving citizens of Saint Lucia with events of a different calibre, apparel tailored to all segments of the population and most importantly committed assistance to charitable organizations and those in need. We hope to see you at the next event!
