758 Most Talented Teen

On Wednesday November 7, six talented beauties participated in the 758 Most Talented Teen Pageant at the National Cultural Centre, with hopes of moving on to a bigger stage.

In December, the winner will represent Saint Lucia at the 39th annual Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in Basseterre St. Kitts.

Tori St. Croix, Neeva Fanus, Leovia Augustin, Desiree’ Clavier, Tamarah Trim and Francine Mason all gave their best that night, hoping to impress the judges with their award winning smiles and vibrant performances.

The event which was hosted by Mervin Joseph was held under the theme ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve.’

There were five segments, namely, Production Number, Promotional Speech, Performing Talent, Evening Cocktail Wear and Interview.

Dressed all in white, and dancing to Teddyson John’s ‘Living it Up,’ they made their first appearance on stage in the Production Number and shortly after, introduced themselves in the Promotional Speech Segment, where they also discussed various topics, amongst them, police brutality, marijuana (and the stigma attached to it) and the devastating Folk Research Centre (FRC) fire.

In the talent segment, one of the most anticipated segments, some danced, whilst others performed drama pieces and one daring contestant (an aspiring rapper) rapped her heart out to the audience. The most passionate piece arguably came from NeesaFanus who danced to Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song’. The dance was a tribute to Botham Jean, a Saint Lucian male who was shot and killed in America by Dallas police officer Amber Guyger. After performing her heart out, Neesa broke down in front of a ‘Justice for Botham’ poster, with a bouquet of roses at her side.

The Evening Cocktail Wear Segment was a memorable one. As they sauntered across the stage in colourful, pretty, teen dresses, the audience showered the stunning contestants with love and approval.

Organized by Lady J Pageants, this event allowed the six teens to display a wealth of talent. In the end only one would walk away with the crown, but they ensured that they all left their mark.

*Winner will be featured in YO! at a later date.
