Emerge Dance Studio: All Set for Clara’s Dream — End of Year Kids Dance Production

Emerge Dance Studio is getting set for their End of Year Kids Dance Production. ‘Clara’s Dream’, an excerpt from the famous Christmas story ‘The Nutcracker’, will be showcased at the St. Joseph’s Convent on Sunday December 1, from 5: 30p.m.; this one, will surely be spectacular! Find out more about the upcoming event (and more) in the interview below.

What inspired ‘Clara’s Dream’?

The idea of producing ‘Clara’s Dream’ was out of a desire to take  our year end parents open day to a higher and more challenging level.  We strongly believed the dancers needed to be challenged artistically and we wanted a public platform to showcase their talent and the high quality tutoring/ choreography by Senorita Jhuliett Chalo.

Our adapted version opens with Clara and her friends playing at her family holiday party where her uncle Drosselmeyer, a magician, arrives with dancing dolls, and gives Clara a nutcracker as a present. After the party Clara falls asleep and the magic begins. In her dream, she travels to the Land of Sweets to meet waltzing flowers, nursery rhyme characters, dancers from many lands and the iconic Sugar Plum Fairy. It’s a “Magical Mystery Tour” of Clara’s journey, accompanied with one of the most layered and lush musical scores ever written.

The first performance of ‘The Nutcracker’ was in December of 1892. Today, it is performed all across the world; we humbly salute this beautiful tradition and hope you enjoy it.Admission is $30.00 (adults) and $15.00(children); there are lots of door prizes to be won.

Tell us about Emerge Ballet Studio.

Emerge Ballet Studio started because there was a need to keep a group of dancers motivated in the artform and also to improve their techniques. In essence, we emerged out of nowhere (actually that’s how the name came about).

What has the response been like?

In the beginning, there was a lot of reluctance by parents to venture into something new/unknown/unheard of.  Now, we’re seeing more parents taking that leap of faith and giving us an opportunity to contribute to their child’s development. The journey has been interesting yet amazing.

What are your core services?

We offer classical ballet technique classes from ages 3 to 16 years and adult ballet classes which are geared towards working professionals, older persons who want to start a new hobby in dance, or anyone who wants to improve their dance techniques or has joining a ballet company on their bucket list.  We also offer ballet classes to local dance institutions.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Fast forward, we will be adding Modern Dance to our core of classes.  Regional dance competitions are on the horizon.

How can Emerge Ballet be contacted for tickets for the Nutcracker presentation and new student registration?
