I run far
I run long
I run wide
I run and I run and I run
Running to
Or running from
One more than the other I’m sure
Escape is easy
Usually a momentary reprieve
That can become addictive
So I run
From decisions
From reality
Though reality is said to be an illusion
Is it any wonder then that I run
But I don’t want to run even as I run
Habits I’d say
Because in me lives a fighter
She wants to be heard
She has an opinion
She wants to make a difference
So now I try not to run
But I’ve gained weight
Responsibility
Always been there
But my clothes fit better
My step is firmer
So I carry it
One step at a time
One day at a time
