Lauren, a past student of the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, is the “girl next door” with great ambitions, an infectious personality, a dazzling smile and a love for life. Likes and interests: A soon to be graduate of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, Nadegeaspires to become an accountant, a future Soca artiste and also wishes to further her talent as acarnival and Instagram model. She has an undeniable passion for Soca music, carnival and fashion.Anyone who truly knows this exuberant teenager would describe her as someone with a great sense of humour, a love for partying, taking pictures, surfing the internet and fashion. She lives by the motto: “To establish true self-esteem we must concentrate on our successes and forget about the failure and the negatives in our lives.”
Passing of her father and love for her community: Her life journey hasn’t been the best since the passing of her father who played the role of both parents. Despite the challenges she faced,this hasn’t prevented her from working towards who she aspires to become. Nadege hails from the beautiful community of Ciceron and though most persons deem the community as violent, Nadege believes the community has evolved in various ways. “Togetherness has become a key component in building our community and its standards,” she said.
Turning Instagram into a brand:When she was 17, her popularity increased on the site. Says Nadege: “Getting the almighty “K” in my follow count caused different brands to reach out to me via Instagram.” Now the teen uses the page to advertise the products of others on her page. In the near future she would like to earn a verification sticker on Instagram and hopes to travel the world to experience carnival. The Instagram model also wants to turn her love for modelling into something greater.
Advice to young women: “I’d like to convey this message to young ladies like myself; remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be and I urge you to be your own kind of beautiful, for beauty comes in different shapes and sizes.”
