Word on the street: “Too many kids having kids”

Deneilson Charles – “This is a topic that is very relevant. As to the cure for it, I’m not sure. I see they tried to put a prescription on contraceptives but is that really helping out? I’m not sure, doesn’t look it, but that’s a step in the right direction. It’s in our best interest to continue finding ways to do stuff like that to try and prevent children from having children because in actuality they’re not ready for it. My advice to children who already have children: seek help from parents and relatives who can actually help. As for the young men, we have to take responsibility for our actions.”

Lotoya Mathurin – “I don’t think it’s wise for children to go down that path because they’re not ready mentally. Sex shouldn’t be on the mind when you’re still a child.  A child cannot take care of a child and they would have to think of the future and not just what’s happening in the moment. Pregnancy might look nice but there are a lot of responsibilities to deal with when a child comes along.”

Shervona Joseph – “I believe too many children are having children. My advice to them is to stay in school and focus on their future. If you made a mistake along the way there is always an opportunity to do better. NSDC offers a number of programmes and also provides opportunities for internships. It’s an opportunity to gain experience and maybe they’ll be able to get a job after they’ve completed their courses.”

Zac Adonis – It’s a big problem. Why should guys go after young ladies who are still going to school? That causes a big problem in the future so I don’t think that’s a good idea. In some cases it’s the parents fault because they don’t guide their children so they take the wrong path. Parents should pay attention to what their kids are doing and if they’re doing something wrong they should correct them. My advice to children: take your time and stay in school.
