Just One Word

Leo Buscaglia, an acclaimed author and motivational speaker, stated this simple truth in ‘Love’, a book published by the author in 1972:

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

When I approached a stranger about a week and a half ago, I never thought she needed a shoulder to lean on. Like most people around us, she seemed perfectly fine, but of course, everything is not always as it seems, and I soon discovered a shocking truth; one that touched me to the core.

She’d attempted to take her life on more than one occasion, and family members (some) had turned their backs on her. With a meagre salary, she’s barely getting by.

Many individuals are facing battles that threaten to take their lives every single day. One kind word, however, can go a long way. Who knows? You just might save a life!

Also, offer financial assistance when you can. One dollar or even 50 cents can make a change.

“Carry out random acts of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” – Princess Diana.

I’ll end with this quote.

Have a good weekend guys.

Sincerely, as always,
Rae.
